Question: 1. How can I Pay?

Answer:

When you visit the store you can pay by cash, debit or credit card.
When ordering online you can now pay with any credit or UK debit card using our Worldpay secure service, our own secure server or you can pay using your PayPal account! Or you can send us cash, postal order or personal cheque (allow five days to clear) or you can pay by bank transfer.

As far as online ordering is concerned you have a number of payment options.
In addition to the options above, you can opt to telephone us or request us to telephone you wherever you are in the world to enable you to let us have your card details over the phone. Either way we provide the personal touch. Once we have received your cleared payment we will ship your order. If you prefer to give your credit or debit card details directly to us, please tick this option when making payment. PLEASE NOTE that if you use this payment option we do not charge your card until the order is ready for despatch.


Question: 2. What is your refunds policy?

Answer:

Mike Miller, Managing Director of THE SOUTH AFRICAN SHOP says. "My guarantee to you is that all of the products that you buy from us are of the highest quality! If ever you aren't satisfied with the quality of the product we will replace the product concerned without question! If you decide that you don't wish to keep your purchase for some other reason then my 7-day refund guarantee applies." Our 7-day refund guarantee means that if for any reason you are unhappy with your purchase, you can return it to us in its original condition within 7 days of the date you received the item, unopened (with any seals and shrink-wrap intact, clothing must have labels attached) and we will issue a full refund for the price you paid for the item. We can only accept the return of opened items if they are faulty. Please note that we reserve the right to send back items to you that have been returned to us after 7 days unless they are faulty. This returns policy does not affect your statutory rights.


Question: 3. Where is the retail store?

Answer:

THE SOUTH AFRICAN SHOP is in Maidenhead in the centre of the Thames Valley, 30 miles west of the centre of London along the M4 motorway corridor, 15 minutes from Heathrow airport and the M25 motorway, 15 minutes from High Wycombe and the M40 motorway, and 20 minutes from Reading. Question: 4. How do I get to the retail store?

Answer:

You can get to the store by car train or bus as follows:

  • By car from the M4 motorway: Take junction 8/9 off the M4 motorway which takes about 10 minutes from the Heathrow airport turnoff and the M25. Follow the road signs to the Maidenhead Town Centre. After going under the railway bridge and past the railway station on the left hand side, you will be in the one way system. At the third set of traffic lights turn right (at the cinema complex). Park in the Nicholson Centre Multistorey car park a short way up on the left. Walk down into the shopping centre, look for the Argos store, just past Iceland and Superdrug. We are just outside the exit, the only store in Brock Lane. Our sign is on the wall so you can't miss us.
  • By car from the M40 motorway: Take junction 4 off the M40 motorway onto the A404 dual carriageway signposted to Maidenhead. After crossing the River Thames, turn left at the next roundabout (Bisham) signposted "Pinkneys Green". Follow the road through the woods and then the suburbs of Maidenhead till you reach the next roundabout. Straight across the roundabout (the A4) and left at the first set of traffic lights (at the cinema complex). Park in the Nicholson Centre Multistorey car park a short way up on the left. Walk down into the shopping centre, look for the Argos store, just past Iceland and Superdrug. We are just outside the exit, the only store in Brock Lane. Our sign is on the wall so you can't miss us.
  • Alternative parking? There are several alternative parking areas. Watch out for Hines Meadow (at Sainsburys), Grove Road, Stafferton Way, Maidenhead Station, or the Twon Hall carpark (weekends only). They are all pay and display. Alternatively there is free one hour street parking if you can find a space.
  • By train from London Paddington, Slough, Windsor, Henley, Reading Central, Newbury or Oxford. Exit Maidenhead station, walk down through the carpark at the front of the station, cross the road at the traffic lights and turn left. Walk along King Street, past the cinema complex and straight on to the Nicholson Centre shopping centre, a two to three minute walk, and enter the shopping centre at the Tesco entrance. Look for the Argos store, just past Iceland and Superdrug. We are just outside the exit, the only store in Brock Lane. Our sign is on the wall so you can't miss us.
  • By bus from Heathrow Airport, Slough, Reading, High Wycombe etc. The bus stop is near the cinema complex on the corner. Head for the cinema front entrance but turn left into King Street at the pedestrian crossing. About fifty yards on enter the Nicholson shopping centre on the right at the Tesco entrance. Look for the Argos store, just past Iceland and Superdrug. We are just outside the exit, the only store in Brock Lane. Our sign is on the wall so you can't miss us.

    Question: 5. How long will it take to ship my order?

    Answer:

    We download orders from our website constantly during each working day. As each order arrives, we check stock availability and then pick it and pack it ready for despatch. If there are any items that are not immediately available then we will telephone you and offer you the option of an alternative product, or to wait until stock of the missing item arrives, or to send out the order without that item.
    When we receive an order together with the payment details (or can make telephone contact with you before noon on the working day concerned to get them over the phone), we can usually ship the order to you on the same day for delivery the following working day. However, we never ship orders that include fresh or frozen meat or fish products on a Friday (since the next working day is Monday) unless you have requested a Saturday morning delivery (for which there is a small delivery surcharge). If we send such an order out on Friday for Monday delivery then the order will stay in the Business Post warehouse over the weekend which is clearly not desirable. We do not offer a delivery service on Sundays or public holidays.


    Question: 6. Who will deliver my order to me and how long will it take?

    Answer:

    We utilise the international carrier DHL for most of our UK deliveries. Our agreement with them is that they will deliver the order to you anywhere in the UK before 5.30pm on the next working day unless you have requested a before 12 noon delivery time. Deliveries are usually in the morning though anyway.
    If you have chosen your home address for the delivery of your order and you are not at home when the DHL driver tries to deliver your order to you then a card will be left at your address advising you of the attempted delivery (unless you have given specific alternative delivery instructions such as delivering to a neighbour or leaving the parcel in a secure place on your property where it can be left safely).
    In order to avoid the possibility of not being able to deliver to your home, we are happy to either deliver to an office or business address instead or, with your agreement, deliver to a trusted neighbour. This can be discussed with our mail order staff who will be happy to help in whichever way they can.
    Orders that can be packed in a Jiffy bag are usually sent by Royal Mail First Class recorded delivery which reduces the delivery charge but is still usually delivered the next working day.
    International orders are either via DHL, who offer a two to three day delivery service to most destinations in the world, or via Royal Mail recorded delivery which takes about five days to most destinations.


    Question: 7. How much will delivery of my order to me usually cost?

    Answer:

    The normal delivery charge for Jiffy bag deliveries up to 500g via Royal Mail recorded delivery is £2.99.
    DHL delivery charges up to 25kg (including packaging and packing materials) to UK mainland addresses is £4.99 for 48 hour delivery and £5.99 for next day delivery.
    International delivery charges vary and can be found under the Delivery Charges section of this website.


    Question: 8. How can I get my order delivered to me free of any delivery charges?

    Answer:

    As long as your delivery address is in England, Wales or Southern Scotland, and the order value of all items supplied exceeds £49.99 but is no more than 25kgs in weight then we will deliver your order to you free of any delivery charges. However, in the event that we are unable to supply certain items that you have ordered, and this reduces the order value to less than £50, then you will need to add other items to increase the order value to over £49.99 in order to qualify for free delivery.


    Question: 9. Can I get a delivery on a Saturday?

    Answer:

    As long as your delivery address is in the UK, we can deliver on a Saturday morning at a delivery charge of £8.99.


    Question: 10. What do I do if the product that I want is not featured on the website?

    Answer:

    The majority of the products sold in our retail store in Maidenhead are listed on the website. The only real exception to this is the arts and crafts section and the sports clothing. Although we try and keep the website listing up to date, new products are coming in all of the time and there is sometimes a delay before we get them onto the website.
    We are able to get any product that is available in the main store in South Africa and, since we have regular airfeight shipments coming in all of the time. we should be able to get any product that your heart desires. Send Mike an e-mail via the CONTACT US section of our website and he will get your product for you. Bear in mind though that such SPECIAL CUSTOMER REQUESTS can sometimes take a month to six weeks to arrive.
